The Greek god Pan, son of Hermes and Penelope, is generally depicted as a man with the legs, ears, and horns of a goat. By linguistic coincidence, the world Pan also means "all", so in addition to being the horned-god of the forest, Pan can also stands as a broad symbol of nature, the universe, and the entire "pantheon" of Paganism.*
